🌻 The Birds & the Bees Tree

August doesn’t come with any big holidays, so I decided this month needed a celebration of its own. After the year I’ve had — full of pain, trauma, and change — I wanted something that felt light, happy, and healing. So for August, our monthly tree became a Birds & Bees Summer Tree.

I filled it with sunflowers and bumblebees, because nothing says joy and sunshine like bright yellow petals and tiny buzzing wings. It’s a color that feels like hope — warm, strong, impossible to ignore.

And of course, Nicky had to be part of the vision. She’s completely obsessed with birds — I swear they’re her spirit animals at this point — so I added flocks of colorful little hummingbirds. They bring the tree to life, darting and shimmering in every direction, just like the real ones we see outside.

I also added fairies, because summer magic isn’t complete without them. They’re reminders of flowers, freedom, and the little glimmers of beauty that carry us through even the hardest days. And then, as always, the special ornaments that tell our story — each one holding memory, meaning, and love.

The result is a tree that isn’t about any holiday at all. It’s about choosing happiness in the middle of pain. It’s about turning August, a month without official celebrations, into a reminder that joy doesn’t wait for permission.

You can create happiness, and mine starts each month with the vision of my new tree.

With Love,

Elfy & Nicky

I paint emotions. All the messy, beautiful, gut-wrenching, glittering feelings we carry. My art was born from survival: after years battling chronic pain, deep grief, and trauma, I found healing in watercolor and mixed media. Every piece I create is a surrender, a whispered prayer, and a story hidden in color and texture.

Through my artwork I turn pain into something soft and luminous — because even pain glitters when you hold it right. My work explores trauma, recovery, and the quiet power of starting over. Proceeds from my art help others on the same path: funding recovery efforts, community support, and creative healing spaces.

I believe art isn’t just something to look at; it’s something to feel, to carry, to heal with.

Welcome to my world — where broken things become beautiful.
